Motorcycle crashes on King Street after fleeing police stop
Police are investigating a double fatal accident involving a motorcycle on King George Street in Annapolis.
Police say a man and woman were killed in the crash, which occurred near Route 450 about 1:10 a.m. Thursday. Annapolis police said an officer pulled over the motorcycle was pulled over for a traffic stop. When the officer approached the motorcycle, the driver sped away.
The officer called adjacent jurisdictions, then followed the motorcycle as it turned onto King Street. When he arrived, the motorcycle had already crashed, police said, and Department of Defense Police were on the scene. The Annapolis police department is examining the incident.
The identities of the victims have not been released.
King George Street was closed between College Avenue and Route 450 while police conducted an investigation. The closures are expected to last several hours.
