Dyrrian McClain Sheff, 3, drowns at birthday party
June 26, 2011 - 11:32 am
A 3-year-old boy drowned in a pool Saturday in Charles County, the sheriff’s office said.
Dyrrian McClain Sheff was at a birthday party in the 7100 block of Bensville Road in Pomfret. The boy was swimming in the in-ground pool with several relatives, according to the sheriff’s office.
As some of the people got out of the pool, they saw the child at the bottom of the deep end. He was brought to the surface and one of the guests - a registered nurse - initiated CPR but was unsuccesful.
The child was taken to Civista Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. There were no signs of foul play and at this point, it appears this was an accidental drowning.
