Elderly woman dies in crash at Falls Church retirement home

An 80-year-old woman was killed when a car she was driving crashed in a parking garage of a Falls Church retirement home.

Police say Alice Pickering drove her 2001 Honda Accord into a cement wall in the garage of the Goodwin House. She was a resident there.

Pickering died at the scene. The cause of death will be determined pending an autopsy conducted at the Office of the Medical Examiner.

Detectives from the crash reconstruction unit are investigating.
