Fairfax County to test mass medical response
June 24, 2011 - 05:32 am
VIENNA, Va. (AP) - Fairfax County will be testing its ability to provide a mass medical response to the public as it seeks to be prepared for any future pandemics or bioterrorism events.
The county health department will conduct an emergency response exercise Saturday at Kilmer Middle School in Vienna and other locations.
The exercise builds on what the county learned in 2009, when it ran mass vaccination clinics at the county government center for the H1N1 flu virus. The drill planned for Saturday tests the county's ability to run multiple sites simultaneously, with Kilmer serving as one of the mock sites.
Health department spokesman Glen Barbour says no medicine will be dispensed at the exercise.
