FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - An annual art festival in Frederick is expanding this year to include dance, theater and downtown galleries.
The Frederick Festival of the Arts begins Friday evening with a kickoff party and entertainment by the U.S. Naval Academy's pop music combo, the Electric Brigade.
The free event continues through Sunday along Carroll Creek with juried fine arts and crafts by more than 100 artisans.
The activities will spill over into the downtown Arts and Entertainment District.
Organizers say the event will showcase the shops and attractions that earned Frederick a top 25 ranking in American Style Magazine's list of artsy small cities.
