Holiday DUI checkpoints planned in Prince George's, Prince William counties
(AP, WTOP) - Police across the region will be on the lookout this holiday weekend for drunken drivers.
Prince George's County police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Friday from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
They say the checkpoint will be done in the central portion of the county to encourage a safe Fourth of July weekend.
Prince William County Police will set up a DUI checkpoint in Manassas on July 4.
Police are reminding residents not to drink and drive and to choose a designated driver if they choose to drink this weekend.
To keep drunken drivers off area roads, the Washington Regional Alcohol Program will be running their SoberRide program Monday, WTOP reports. From 10 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday, WRAP will offer free cab rides up to $30 in fare. To get a free cab, call 1-800-200-8294.
