Man breaks in home, sexually assaults woman in Herndon
A woman in the Herndon area was sexually assaulted early Saturday morning after she was awakened by an unknown man in her bedroom.
The woman, who lives in the 13700 block of Merrybrook Court near Dulles Airport, called police around 5:30 a.m. to report the attack. She said the man had a weapon, but police did not specify what type of weapon.
Police say the man forced entry through a locked door and fled after the assault. Other family members were home but were not injured.
The victim did not require medical treatment, police say
Residents say that the complex sees very little crime and is generally viewed as a secure community. Some even say that they feel comfortable leaving their doors unlocked.
The suspect is described as a man, unknown race, with a light complexion. He is 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall with a large build. He was wearing a black tank top, khaki cargo shorts and a light-colored cloth wrapped around his head that covered his face.
