June 7, 2011 - 09:34 pm
A man was struck and killed by a car in Glen Burnie, Md., on Tuesday, Anne Arundel county police reported.
Police were called shortly before 2:30 p.m. When they arrived at the scene at 7390 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, a man was lying in the street with life-threatening injuries, police said.
He was taken to University of Maryland hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Police identified the man as Douglas Frank Pohlman.
Police say Pohlman crossed the road outside of a crosswalk, but in between two crosswalks. Speed was not a factor, police said – in fact, it appears the vehicle was going under the speed limit. Pedestrian error was listed as the primary cause of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
