WASHINGTON (AP) - Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown is giving the commencement address this year for Walt Whitman High School.
Brown is scheduled to speak to graduating students Tuesday in Washington.
The lieutenant governor will encourage students from the Bethesda school to continue with their education to prepare for the 21st-century economy.
Last year, Brown launched a "Skills2Compete" initiative. It promotes activities that lead to increasing the skill levels of state residents by obtaining a degree, a post-secondary credential or completing an apprenticeship program.
