Men attempt to kidnap jogger in Crofton
A pair of men attempted to kidnap a 29-year-old woman who was jogging in Crofton, Md.
Authorities said the woman was jogging Monday night in the area around the 2100 block of Priest Bridge Drive when a man in foot approached her and asked for directions. As she was giving the directions, another man approached in a two-door older model Chevrolet and also asked for directions to a post office.
“It scares the heck out of me because I have two daughters that live in this area,” said resident Lee Hosgood. “That deeply concerns me because we're not used to that kind of news that kind of problem in the area.”
The man on foot then grabbed the woman, authorities said. The woman screamed and the man fled toward the Crofton Bowling area while the suspect in the car drove off on Priest Bridge Drive toward Route 50.
The department has increased its police presence in the area in the form of extra patrol officers and members of the countywide bike patrol.
The damage has been done to the sense of wellbeing in the community.
“You expect to be safe in your community,” said Darlene Clark. “So I hope they catch the people.”
The suspects are still at large. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Detective Jack Hartzell at 410-222-3416.
