Nationals still winless under Johnson
The Washington Nationals are 0-3 in the Davey Johnson era. Wednesday night the Nationals starter Jordan Zimmerman was undone by a defensive miscue, and lost to the Los Angeles Angels 1-0.
Zimmermann pitched an eight inning complete game, allowing one unearned run on four hits while striking out four. Bobby Abreu scored the lone run of the game for the Angels when Howard Kendrick grounded into a double play in the fourth. Abreu initially reached base on a throwing error by Ryan Zimmerman, his second error in as many days.
Washington tried to rally in the ninth, but Jordan Walden struck out Michael Morse with the tying run on third base to end the game. Walden picked up the save, while Dan Haren earned the victory for the Angels.
Johnson and the Nationals start an 11-game home stand on Friday, beginning with a four game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
