June 10, 2011 - 12:52 pm
A Nationals shortstop draft pick has made offensive comments on his twitter account, sparking a deletion of the account and an investigation by the team.
Zach Houchins, 18, picked in the 15th round of the amateur draft, made derogatory comments against African Americans and others, according to the Washington Post.
Nats blog For the Love of the Nationals posted Houchins' insightful thoughts on Wednesday. The mainstream press discovered it this morning.
“We are aware of and investigating the comments,” General Manager Mike Rizzo said in a statement, the Post reports. Houchins’ twitter account was deleted.
