FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - Authorities say a Frederick, Md., man has been charged with wielding a 3-foot-long sword while walking along a city sidewalk.
According to charging documents, 30-year-old told witnesses and police that he intended to kill two men whom he said had attacked him.
Frederick police were called to Waverley Drive about 1 a.m. Monday after a passer-by said a man had pulled a sword from its sheath while walking toward him. The man, later identified as Martinez-Navas, put the sword back after the passer-by got into his car.
Documents say police stopped Martinez-Navas after he later approached a group of teens with the sword halfway out its sheath.
