Residents who live in Trevors Run say they still won’t go out alone at night anymore. And they still don’t feel completely safe.

Police say a predator broke through a locked door early Saturday morning in the 13000 block of Merrybrook Court in Herndon. A 23-year-old woman awoke to find him in her bedroom, armed. He then sexually assaulted her and fled, authorities said.

“We're kind of afraid about what happened. If he's still out here,” said resident Jaclyn Gomez.

Roughly 10 detectives canvassed the area through the early evening, handing out flyers in both English and Spanish. Neighbors say they were asked if they saw anything suspicious and were asked to follow up.

Police described the suspect as a little over 6 feet tall, with a large build. He wore a black tank top, khaki shorts and a light-colored cloth wrapped around his head.
