Raven Masters gets 24 life sentences for setting fire
WASHINGTON (AP) - A Maryland man convicted of setting fire to a Montgomery County building in order to kill a police detective will spend life in prison.
Raven Masters was given 24 life sentences on Wednesday. The 32-year-old was convicted of setting on fire an apartment building that was home to two dozen residents. Prosecutors said he doused hallways and stairways with gasoline and shut off the sprinkler system and emergency lighting before setting the fire. They said he was attempting to kill a police detective who was set to testify against him in court on a burglary charge.
Firefighters managed to rescue all of the residents.
