Robbery suspect found thanks to tip from citizen
Howard County police have arrested a Baltimore woman for an assault and robbery caught on video at a bar last month, thanks to a tip from a citizen.
Jessica Whitney White, 24, of 3019 Kentucky Avenue in Baltimore, is charged with robbery, second-degree assault, and two counts of theft.
Police released a video of the crime last week, asking the public’s help to solve the May 29 incident at Second Chance Saloon in the 5800 block of Robert Oliver Place in Columbia, Md. The video shows the suspect punching another woman in the face, knocking her down.
A tipster saw that video on TV news, recognized the suspect and called police. The person will receive reward money, police said.
White is suspected of assaulting a 27-year-old woman and stealing her purse. Police do not believe the two knew each other or spoke before the robbery. White is being held at Howard County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
