Correction:
In the ABC7 on-air story, it was stated that 25 percent of the $5 million raised by the D.C. Race for the Cure goes back into the D.C. area for early screening and protection from breast cancer. A spokesperson says that it's actually 75 percent that is spent in our area. We regret the error.
Thousands of runners and walkers are descending on downtown D.C. on Saturday for the annual Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure.
The 5K run and walk raises awareness and money for breast cancer research.
