Window washers rescued in D.C. after platform collapses
June 11, 2011 - 02:28 pm
Rescue harnesses potentially saved the lives of two window washers in Northwest D.C. on Saturday after their platform collapsed, officials say.
Fire authorities say that the platform collapse occurred at about 11 a.m. outside the 4th floor of an 11-story building at the IMF building at 1924 Pennsylvania Ave. NW.
A D.C. Fire spokesperson says that the workers fell but were saved by their harnesses. An EMS technical rescue team brought them to safety and they were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
