July 11, 2011 - 09:14 am
ABC7’s Cynne Simpson joined thousands of people in breaking a world record over the weekend at the Indonesia Festival 2011.
The Embassy of Indonesia hosted the event, which took place Saturday on the National Mall.
Simpson, along with 5,182 others, broke the world record for the most people joined together to play the anklung, a traditional Indonesian instrument made of bamboo. All participants were trained to play the angklung that day by Maestro Daeng Udjo.
Judges from the Guinness World Records were on hand as participants played “We Are The World.”
Each participant received an angklung to take home and a certificate.
