Albert Greer sentenced to nine years in Third Street Tunnel shooting
A District man was sentenced to nine years in prison Friday two months after pleading guilty to shooting a man in the Third Street Tunnel on the day after Christmas last year.
Albert Greer, 24, pleaded guilty to assault with intent to kill in May.
At his plea hearing, Greer admitted that he shot the driver of a Toyota inside the tunnel after he driver of the car tried to merge into his lane on southbound I-395. After shouting at the driver of the other car, Greer picked a gun up from the floor of his car and shot at the Toyota multiple times.
The victim in the shooting was shot twice in the armpit and thigh and underwent emergency surgery. Greer was arrested on March 30 after an investigation. Police say that the area around the driver's side door had at least eight bullet holes.
