Anne Arundel battling five blazes
An Anne Arundel County Fire Spokesperson says crews have been dispatched to five separate fires in the county over a period of about 45 minutes starting around 4:15 p.m. Monday.
All five are believed to have been caused by lightning. However an official cause is pending investigation.
There have been no injuries reported at any of the fires. However, the county has had to call for assistance from surrounding jurisdictions due to the volume of calls.
All the fires were in single family dwellings.
The most significant fires appear to be in the 1200 block of Edgewater Drive, Edgewater, Md. and another in the 400 block of Owensville Rd, West River, Md.
The Edgewater fire currently has 51 firefighting personnel on the scene, including crews from Annapolis City Fire, Queen Anne's County Fire, and the United States Naval Academy Fire Department.
The bulk of the fire was in the basement on the home.
The Owensville Road fire, had fire through the roof and the attic. The caller also reported that there were flames coming from the electrical panel.
