FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - Authorities say they are investigating the possibility of arson in a pair of Frederick house fires.
The more serious blaze was reported around 3 a.m. Sunday on Young Place, near Fort Detrick.
Investigators say the homeowner heard a loud bang and found a fire in the carport that spread to the house, causing an estimated $150,000 in damage.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries in the blaze.
The second fire was reported 30 minutes later about 12 blocks away in the 1500 block of 8th Street.
Investigators say the fire was on the outside of the house, toward the back. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze, resulting in minor damage.
