WASHINGTON (AP) - More than 1,000 young people are in Washington for a national conference with a keynote speech by former president Bill Clinton.

The 2011 Campus Progress National Conference begins Wednesday at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Campus Progress is a Washington-based group that tracks issues affecting young people. Its parent organization is the Center for American Progress, a liberal Washington think tank.

The conference includes speeches, panels and discussions with public officials and activists, among others.

The conference continues Thursday with a half-day discussion on building political power for young people.
