A six-year old child nearly drowned in an Alexandria pool on Friday. The child was found unresponsive in a four-foot deep area at the Warwick Pool at 3301 Landover Street, the Alexandria fire department said.
City lifeguards pulled the boy out and provided mouth-to-mouth resuscitation before the Fire Department arrived. The fire department was called shortly after 1:30 p.m. The child was breathing by the time fire department staff got to the scene.
The child’s parents were notified and he was responsive and alert upon being transported to Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. The incident is under investigation by an accident review committee.
