GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) - Montgomery County police say a 28-year-old man was beaten to death at a family gathering in Gaithersburg.
Police have arrested a suspect, who's described as an acquaintance of the victim.
Police say officers responded to the home shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, where they found Justin Carter lying on the ground. Carter was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Brenden Lamont Dashiell of Germantown.
Police say Dashiell and Carter started fighting on the rear deck of the house, and the brawl moved into the yard. Police say Dashiell struck Carter several times about the head. An autopsy revealed that Carter died of blunt force trauma.
Dashiell has been charged with second-degree murder.
