July 21, 2011 - 06:56 am
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - Montgomery County fire officials say a portion of a major roadway in Rockville has been closed following a building fire.
Fire department spokesman Capt. Oscar Garcia says the southbound lanes of Rockville Pike were closed early Thursday between Security and Edson lanes, near White Flint Mall.
Garcia says firefighters were called to the fire on Rockville Pike about 4 a.m. Thursday. He says the fire was on the first floor of the building, and took about 20 minutes to extinguish.
Garcia says one firefighter suffered a heat-related emergency and was taken to a hospital. He is expected to be treated and released. No other injuries were reported.
