Burke man charged in fatal crash

A 27-year-old Burke man was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence and manslaughter after a woman riding as a passenger in his vehicle was killed after a crash.
The crash occurred at about 4 a.m. on July 4 on Shirley Gate Road near Mattie Moore Court in Fairfax. Police said the driver, Hossein Ghaffari-Nik, was southbound on Shirley Gate Road when he went off the roadway and struck a tree.
Killed in the crash was Sara Ghaffari-Nik, 21, of Burke. Police said she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
