Casey Anthony released: Uncertain future faces Anthony after release
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Casey Anthony has disappeared from public view after being freed from a Florida jail early today, 12 days after she was acquitted of murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.
The verdict drew furious responses and death threats from across the U.S. and there was unusual security for Anthony's release shortly after midnight.
Anthony and attorney Jose Baez got into an SUV which eventually pulled into a covered garage at an office building and never reemerged.
Neither she nor Baez said anything to reporters and protesters outside and no one has said where Anthony was headed. It's not clear where Anthony will stay or what she will do next.
One of her attorneys said Friday that Anthony was scared to leave jail.
Security experts have said Anthony will need to hole up inside a safe house protected by bodyguards for a while.
