July 28, 2011 - 12:43 pm
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Center Casey Rabach and defensive end Phillip Daniels are among the veterans cut by the Washington Redskins on the first day of training camp.
Nose tackle Maake Kemoeatu, running backs Chad Simpson and Andre Brown, receiver Roydell Williams and punter Sam Paulescu were also released.
The 33-year-old Rabach said in a text message Thursday that the Redskins told him they were "going younger and had enough depth" at offensive line.
The 38-year-old Daniels announced his news via Twitter, saying: "Sad news guys. I just got released."
Players reported Thursday for physicals and meetings. The first practice is scheduled for Friday.
