A young boy has died after being pulled from the water at Sandy Point Park in Annapolis Monday morning.
Rescuers initially thought they had saved the boy, described as being 5 to 7 years old, from a near drowning.
An Anne Arundel County Fire spokesperson says that at approximately 8 a.m. the fire department received a call for a person missing in the water at Sandy Point Park.
By the time the emergency crew arrived on the scene, a child had been pulled from the water.
CPR was performed on the boy, who was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with serious, life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead.
