D.C. pushes Pepco to improve
July 8, 2011 - 01:51 pm
The District is setting stricter standards for Pepco in an attempt to improve the service’s reliability and hold the company accountable.
The new rules, adopted by the District’s Public Service Commission, will impose a penalty on Pepco and sets more strict benchmark levels for reliability.
The new rules require Pepco to gradually improve its reliability and performance on a yearly basis starting in 2013.
Pepco was heavily criticized after there were major power outages – some lasting days – after a snowstorm struck the D.C. region in January.
