D.C. United, Philadelphia Union unite for 2-2 tie
WASHINGTON (AP) - Carlos Ruiz scored his fifth goal of the season in the 84th minute to help the Philadelphia Union earn a 2-2 draw with D.C. United on Saturday night.
Sebastien Le Toux sent a long ball down the right side to Sheanon Williams, who quickly directed a cross to Ruiz charging down the middle. Ruiz then scored from five yards, giving him goals in consecutive games, as the Union (7-4-6) salvaged a point despite never leading.
United (4-5-7) took the lead when Andy Najar fired a 35-yard strike in the 58th minute. That briefly made up for Perry Kitchen's own goal in the 49th minute, a redirect from the middle of the box off Veljko Paunovic's cross. It proved costly as United's winless streak reached five games.
Dwayne De Rosario assisted on Josh Wolff's goal in the 44th minute in his first game with United since being acquired from the New York Red Bulls on Monday.
