Prince George's County Police arrested a 17-year-old suspect Monday in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old man in Hyattsville last month.
Police say they arrested Derrell Emmanuel Mason of Northwest D.C. after identifying him as a suspect in the June 30 stabbing death of Leonard R. Smith-Matthews of Bladensburg.
Mason is charged with first-degree murder and is awaiting extradition back to Prince George's County.
Authorities say that Smith-Matthews was found stabbed in a parking garage in the 6400 block of America Boulevard in the University Town Center complex after reports of a fight nearby. He died shortly thereafter at an area hospital.
