HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) - Authorities say they have charged a 17-year-old with murder in connection with a fatal stabbing at a Hyattsville shopping center last month.
Prince George's County police said Wednesday that they have charged Derrell Mason of northwest Washington in the killing of 21-year-old Leonard Smith-Matthews on June 30. Police say the two were involved in a large fight at the University Town Center on America Boulevard.
Authorities say Smith-Matthews of Bladensburg was stabbed in the fight. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say four other males were injured in the fight. They were treated at a hospital and released.
