Dominion starts $20 million program to replace transformers
Dominion Virginia Power is starting a $20 million program to replace older electric transformers to ensure they perform.
The company has already replaced more than 700 transformer in Northern and Central Virginia and the Hampton Roads area. It will soon replace another 1,400 in Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Hampton, Alexandria, Springfield and Richmond.
"It takes a lot of infrastructure to keep electricity flowing safely and reliably to our customers," said Rodney Blevins, vice president-Distribution Operations. "Keeping it up-to-date and working around-the-clock is a big challenge, but it is exactly what our customers expect. This is one example of how we work to fix potential problems before they affect our customers."
Dominion has about 2.4 million customers.
