Fire on Decatur Street and Georgia Avenue destroys houses

Five to six homes were destroyed completely in a fire in the 900 block of Decatur Street Northwest.
The fire broke out around 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Around 120 firefighters were called to the scene at Decatur Street and Georgia Avenue to fight the heavy blaze.
While no one was injured, as many as a dozen people are displaced since their homes have burned down.
One homeowner said his house and valuable antique furniture was destroyed, but added he was glad to be alive.
It is unclear what caused the fire.
