Gas prices rise one cent nationally
July 31, 2011 - 12:05 pm
Gas prices ticked upward nationwide and in the D.C. metro area again this week as the oil industry awaits news on the United States debt situation.
The price of a gallon of gas went up a penny to $3.71 this week nationwide; in the D.C. metro area, prices went up by one cent as well to $3.74, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic.
However, in the District of Columbia, the average price at the pump actually went down a cent to $3.90.
Experts warn that a debt default could cause oil and gas prices to rise even more. Nationally, prices are up 17 cents per gallon from where they were at this time last month.
