Halley Terrace apartment fire injures at least three
July 31, 2011 - 07:57 am
Several people were injured and treated for smoke inhalation after a fire in a Southeast D.C. Apartment, fire officials say.
D.C. Fire & EMS responded to the fire on the 2nd floor of a three-story building in the 3800 block of Halley Terrace SE to find heavy smoke coming from the building. Officials say the fire started in a 1st floor bedroom, possibly sparked by a portable air conditioning unit.
Three people, a 27-year-old female, a 30-year-old male and a child, were transported from the scene and were treated for possible smoke inhalation. Several people have been displaced by the fire, spokesperson Pete Piringer says.
