I-395 jammed due to collapsed storm drain
July 14, 2011 - 07:36 am
A collapsed storm drain on the inbound 14th Street Bridge snarled traffic for hours, as jams stretched well back onto I-395 throughout the morning rush.
The drain collapsed in the area where drivers merge off the 14th Street Bridge and onto the Southwest/Southeast Freeway.
DDOT crews are temporarily fixed the problem by covering the hole with a large steel plate and asphalt ramps leading to and away from it.
A DDOT spokesman says that crews will make permanent repairs in the coming days.
