Man who robbed actor Kal Penn in D.C. sentenced

The man accused of robbing actor Kal Penn of “Harold and Kumar” fame in D.C. was sentenced to spend more than three years in prison.
Marcellus Chambers, of D.C., was sentenced to 40 months Thursday in D.C. Superior Court. He pleaded guilty in April to robbery and assault with a deadly weapon in connection with robbing Penn, who was serving as Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement and White House Liaison to Young Americans at the time of the robbery.
Authorities said Chambers and another man robbed Penn in the 1500 block of S Street NW on April 20, 2010. Penn’s given name is Kalpen Modi.
