8:42 a.m.: All lanes of Pennsylvania are now open.
Pedestrian hit at Pennsylvania Ave., 7th Street NW; traffic blocked
A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle shortly after 7 a.m. at Pennsylvania Avenue and 7th Street, NW.
Pennsylvania Ave is currently blocked in both directions between 7th and 9th St NW, police say.
The patient, only described as an adult, was conscious and breathing and was taken to a hospital by DC Fire/EMS crews with serious and life-threatening injuries.
MPD reports the striking vehicle remained on the scene.
