Pedestrian hit by Mercedes on Rt. 40 in Frederick
A pedestrian was hit and seriously injured on Rt. 40 in Frederick Monday night, police say.
Frederick Police officers responded to a report of person hit at about 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of N. McCain Drive and Rt. 40.
Police found a pedestrian lying in the roadway with serious injuries after having been struck by a Mercedes Station station wagon traveling westbound.
The victim was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to Baltimore Shock Trauma with serious injuries.
The driver of the Mercedes was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries sustained in the collision.
No fault has been determined and alcohol does not appear to be a factor, police say.
Rt. 40 westbound was closed at N. McCain Dr. from the time of the collision until 11:55 p.m.
