Raid for Melvin Smith comes up empty

Police searched a Frederick motel Tuesday after a tip that a murder suspect was possible there.

Melvin Smith “Roc” is suspected of shooting Tranice Richardson, with whom he had a son, on Friday.
Motel 6 on W. Patrick Street was searched by numerous officers, police said. Two rooms where Smith was thought to be were searched Tuesday afternoon. Smith wasn’t found.
The Frederick Police Department is asking anyone with information on his location to please call the Frederick Police Department at 301-600-2102.
