Sean Douglas Heiderscheidt, Stephen Fox, sentenced for arson at Virginia church
RUCKERSVILLE, Va. (AP) - Two Greene County teenagers have been sentenced for an arson that gutted a church in Ruckersville.
The Daily Progress reports that 19-year-old Sean Douglas Heiderscheidt will spend seven years in prison. Eighteen-year-old Stephen Fox will spend six years in prison.
A jury convicted Fox on arson and several other charges in March.
Heiderscheidt entered Alford pleas to similar charges in April.
Investigators say the teens took money from the Ruckersville Baptist Church and set it on fire in August 2010.
Greene County Circuit Court Judge Daniel R. Bouton sentenced Fox on Monday to a total 27 years and then suspended 21 years. Heiderscheidt received a total 26 years, 19 of which were suspended.
Repairs to the church are estimated to cost $700,000. The work is expected to begin this week.
