Shoppers on high alert as Fairfax slasher remains at large
Shoppers across Fairfax County are on high alert as police try to track down the Fairfax Slasher, an attacker targeting women.
Women are using the buddy system, not shopping alone, as the man who has slashed women from behind for months remains on the loose.
Fairfax County Police had hoped that sharp surveillance photos of the serial slasher would lead to some solid tips from the public.
But with no real leads, and no arrest, they're now beefing up their undercover presence at malls, where the slashings occurred.
Even with crystal-clear surveillance photos of the serial slasher, he's still on the loose.
Armed with the photos but waiting for a break, police are working with mall management to step up their presence.
The serial slasher has been targeting teen girls since February at stores like anne taylor and forever 21, walking up behind them and stabbing them in their buttocks through their pants or shorts.
Described as a Hispanic male, the man has struck at least four times in the last six months at Tysons Corner, Fair Oaks Mall, and Greenbriar Shopping Center.
Shoppers say they're staying vigilant, but beyond that, they don't know what else to do to for protection from this bizarre predator.
