Should Wal-Mart become D.C.'s go-to place for guns?
July 7, 2011 - 05:06 pm
Because of a recent Supreme Court decision allowing gun sales in D.C., the city must now have a registered dealer. But right now, the city’s only licensed dealer isn’t doing business.
On Thursday, MPD Chief Cathy Lanier said on WTOP radio that the city must find a dealer soon.
Yet for residents who are battling to keep crime down in their neighborhood, the thought of a big gun dealer like Wal-Mart moving in isn’t welcome.
“Enough bad things happened as it is,” said resident Bob Pearson. “We don't need no more guns.”
Wal-Mart, however, has told WTOP that it won't sell guns at its D.C. stores.
