Takia Neeley pleads guilty to 2009 murder of Jason Liser
July 14, 2011 - 11:45 am
A Hyattsville woman pleaded guilty Thursday to the 2009 shooting death of a man in Southeast D.C.
Takia Neeley, 21, faces decades in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and possession of a firearm.
The plea comes in connection to the murder of 32-year-old Jason Liser, which occurred in the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue NE in the early morning hours of Sept. 13, 2009.
Neeley claimed during testimony that she did not mean to shoot Liser, but did admit to possessing the gun and shooting him. She said she continued to shoot Liser after the gun initially went off because she did not want the victim to be able to identify her.
She will be sentenced on Sept. 16.
