Teens struck while crossing highway in Severna Park
Updated: July 13, 2011 - 11:22 am
Two teenagers were struck by a car while crossing a highway in Severna Park.
Authorities say a 17-year-old female from Pasendena and an 19-year-old male, identified as Sean William Snyder, from Severna Park, were hit in the 100 block of Ritchie Highway about 8:43 p.m. Tuesday.
Fire Battalion Chief Steve Thompson says the teens were taken by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. The girl is listed in critical condition, and the male is in serious, but stable condition.
Authorities say both pedestrians were not in a cross walk at the time of the accident and were wearing dark clothing.
The driver of the striking vehicle has been identified as 49-year-old William Keith Goldman, of Arnold, Md., who remained at the scene.
Thompson says a carnival was taking place near the incident.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
