Tree crushes National Park Service worker's vehicle
July 8, 2011 - 06:28 pm
It was lunch time, so a worker for the National Park Service pulled into Fort Macy Park off the George Washington Parkway in McLean. Then co-worker Paul Walls got a phone call.
His friend said he was bleeding.
A large tree fell across his truck, crushing the cab, smashing the windshield and trapping the driver.
Frank Brilliant, 54, was the victim of the tree incident. He was eating a sandwich when it happened. And despite being hit in the head, he was alert enough to phone for help.
Crews rescued him and he survived.
