Ivanka Trump has confirmed that the Trump Hotel Collection is bidding to transform the Old Post Office Pavilion into a luxury hotel.
“The Old Post Office building is an iconic building in Washington, D.C. and a spectacular opportunity for redevelopment,” Ivanka Trump said in an interview with the Washington Post. “Preserving the architectural integrity of this great asset should be fundamental to all plans presented to the GSA.”
The General Services Administration has been seeking bids to redevelop the property, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, sitting between the U.S. Capitol and the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.
Under the Trump proposal, the Old Post Office Pavilion would be transformed into a nearly 300-room luxury hotel, with conference meeting space, a spa and museum, according to the Post.
